Rochester, with its unique atmosphere and wealth of historic buildings, is a pleasure to explore on foot.

This is a free guided tour. For a start most unusual for something so professional. Donations welcome at the end but no pressure.
The Tour - 90 minutes from... read more Rochester Visitor Centre and just done so well. Interesting and informative. Our guide was very relaxed which made for a nice comfortable experience even in times of Covid-19. Rochester is a delight. This is an "easy" tour in that Rochester is small but makes up for it in History and wonderful buildings/architecture.
This tour did not take you inside the Cathedral as insufficient time, but does make stops and references outside which gives you a taste for wanting to see more!
Would thoroughly recommend, an absolute perfect way to spend an afternoon followed by refreshment's. Plenty of choice along the High Street.
Thank-you for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm (3 ladies/friends attended 03.10.20)

It's a good introduction to Rochester and it's history and figures. Chris was knowledgeable about the tour content, different museums and sites to see and also the local area... read more generally.
The tour doesn't dwell anywhere so you will come away with a lot of places you can go back to see later.
Even the little bit of rain didn't matter as there were quite a few undercover places to stop and including inside the museum.

The tour lasted about 1.5 hours and we covered a lot...It is easy walking... read more and full of highlights - including, of course, some Dickens! Our guide (Chris I think?) was charming. She was humorous and knowledgeable. It's free but you are invited to make a donation at the end. It was well worth the small donation we made. Highly recommend. …

A very relaxed, friendly but informative tour of the town /city! James pointed out many places we would have missed on our own, entertained us with stories of Rochester’s history,... read more inhabitants and visitors and even ran after us once the tour had finished to suggest an interesting place for tea. The tour is free, but requests donations for the City of Rochester Society.

Many thanks to John for a superb guided walk around the beautiful city of Rochester. The walk covered the main sites but many more that I would not have found... read more if not for John. This really bought the city alive for both of us.
John delivered his walk with enthusiasm and an impressive depth of knowledge. He was only too happy to answer questions and unusually for some guides he never lost the groups interest.
I have done many guided walks over the last forty years and few have been of this high standard. So thanks again John.
My advice to future visitors is to book a City of Rochester guided walk and if you are lucky then you will get John as your guide.
Thanks again from Mike and Keith from Wolverhampton
